In Memory – Steven Lehn

Steven LehnMusician Steven Lehn passed away on July 14, 2013. He will be dearly missed at Inside the Orchestra.

Steve Lehn was one of Denver’s finest free-lance trumpet players. After graduating from South High School he studied trumpet at the Boston Conservatory with Charles Schluter. He also attended the University of Denver where he studied with Joe Docksey. He played over 25 seasons in the Central City Opera orchestra and played numerous concerts with Colorado Symphony, Denver Chamber Orchestra, Colorado Ballet Orchestra, Colorado Chamber Orchestra, Opera Colorado, and many more local orchestras. He also played for many touring Broadway shows at the Buell Theater and was principal trumpet in ISO’s Tiny Tots programs. Recently Steve played principal trumpet in the Arapahoe Philharmonic and was a regular in the music performances at Montview Presbyterian Church and South Suburban Community Church. Steve was an avid Star Trek fan and built models of the various Enterprises which alone would qualify him as a Trekkie. Steve exhibited great courage and determination when his illness was diagnosed, making every effort to fulfill his playing commitments. He rarely complained about his cancer and continued playing until his illness made it too prohibitive to play. One thing could be said of Steve, he gave it all he had! -Dan Leavitt, Trumpet
