What is SCFD and why does it matter?

On behalf of the board of directors of Inside the Orchestra I would like to encourage you to vote this November to continue the SCFD program here in Colorado. For those who don’t know, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) was started 28 years ago as a way for the public to support arts, science, and cultural organizations through a one penny tax on every ten dollars spent. SCFD has been extraordinarily successful in providing the Denver metro area with a rich and diverse set of cultural opportunities. Surprisingly very few other major cities provide for the arts as much as Denver does. Over 300 organizations benefit from the SCFD program. It is truly a great idea that we hope you will support.

So whether you are a Republican, a Democrat, or an Independent please take the time now to register to vote if you haven’t already https://www.govotecolorado.com. The one thing that I’m sure we can all agree on is that we live in a great city and we all benefit from the abundant variety of arts and education, as well as the corresponding increase in tourism and business development.

Inside the Orchestra could not reach the thousands of young children that we do without the support of SCFD and the support from our many individual contributors. We strongly believe that cultivating music appreciation is a crucial element in the education of our children. Thank you for your continued support.
