Inside the Orchestra’s Sensory Friendly Performance

Saturday, January 26th

10:30AM

Parker Arts, Culture & Event Center

20000 Pikes Peak Ave, Parker CO 80138

Inside the Orchestra offers a unique experience for children of all ages and their families to experience the orchestra. Audience members will be seated on the floor and encircled by 14 orchestra performers during an immersive 45-minute performance that will teach the children about the music throughout the concert. Kids will get to move and imagine along with the music as it is performing around them.

These programs are geared towards families with children with sensory processing disorder, and as such, special accommodations including the following will be put into place:

  • The audience will be guided through the music by the conductor and always know what to expect.
  • The music will be performed at a quieter and more even volume.
  • Children are encouraged to move and react to the music in the ways that come naturally to them – movement, verbalization, etc.
  • The lights will remain on fully at all times and audience members will be asked to wave their hands instead of clapping.
  • Audience members are welcome to bring fidget toys, headphones, or other items that will allow them to enjoy the concert to its fullest.
