Popsicle Stick Harmonica
Follow the directions below to make your own popsicle stick harmonica, using just a few materials for each student
Materials per student:
- Two wide popsicle sticks (tongue depressors)
- Two thin rubber bands
- One thick rubber band
- Two approximately 1 inch straw segments
- Stretch the thick rubber band around one of the craft sticks, lengthwise.
- Place one straw piece between the rubber band and craft stick and one straw piece on top of the rubber band and craft stick.
- Stretch the thick rubber band around one of the craft sticks, lengthwise.
- Place one straw piece between the rubber band and craft stick and one straw piece on top of the rubber band and craft stick.
3. Place the other craft stick on top so that it sandwiches the rubber band and straws together and attach everything by wrapping a thin rubber band around each end of the popsicle sticks.
4. To play, hold the harmonica to your lips and blow through the side, across the rubber band. Move the straws towards the middle or the ends of the popsicle sticks to change the pitch.
