[DENVER, CO, February 4th–] Inside the Orchestra is proud to present the 2020 Winter Tiny Tots Concert series: Music of the World. Starting on February 15th at the McNichols Building, kids and their adults will take a trip around the musical world, exploring music from Mexico, Japan, Africa, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Greece, India, Australia, Serbia, and the United States! Inside the Orchestra Tiny Tots concerts get children and their adults literally inside the orchestra as they are seated on the floor and encircled by our 31+ professional musicians. In this special series, in addition to stepping inside the orchestra, attendees will meet more guest artists than ever before. Kids will get the chance to dance along with drummers and dancers with African dance from Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, learn about rhythm from Margaret Ozaki Graves and her amazing Japanese Taiko drum, explore traditional Indian dance with Deepali Lindblom of Roshni, sing the blues with Inside the Orchestra’s very own Lionel Young, hear a Joropo folk song and sing along with Raquel Garcia to a very familiar piece from Coco. Plus, Maggy Stacy from Denver Center for the Performing Arts will be back as our orchestral tour guide, helping everyone sing, dance, and imagine their way around the world.
Tiny Tots concerts include a 45-minute performance immersive performance. Concerts are followed by meet and greet time with the performers – kids can meet the artists, take a closer look at instruments, and ask questions. In addition to the performance, there will be hands-on activities available before and after each concert, including DIY instrument making, coloring stations, and an instrument petting zoo. These beloved concerts are specifically designed to connect young children (six and under) with music – physically, emotionally, and mentally. Inside the Orchestra programming is unique to Colorado – and is available for individuals and the kids in their life, as well as school groups looking for a field trip.
Inside the Orchestra is especially excited about the repertoire for the winter series, which is diverse and representative of dozens of different cultures around the world. Kids will get to hear familiar songs, classic orchestra pieces, and be introduced to new musical styles. Attendees will be given a pre-program packet of activities to do at home to keep the musical magic alive both leading up to and after the Tiny Tots experience. Tiny Tots dates are already filling up, and space is limited.
