Music, Instrument Petting Zoo, Dance, and Opera all in one at Winter Tiny Tots

Just three days after the Super Bowl, join former Denver Bronco Reggie Rivers as he helps us “kick off” the winter 2016 Tiny Tots series. Reggie will be guest conducting a piece of music in the 9:30AM concert at Temple Emanuel on February 10th, 2016 – join him in helping Inside the Orchestra celebrate their 30th anniversary of doing programs! Inside the Orchestra will present Tiny Tots with the along with guest artists from Kim Robards Dance and Central City Opera.  They will also be joined by Neighborhood Music Stapleton (NMS) on February 10th at Temple Emanuel, and February 22nd at Boettcher Concert Hall – NMS will be bringing their wildly popular instrument petting zoo to let kids get hands on experience with instruments themselves. Tiny Tots concerts will take place February 10th through February 29th at venues throughout the Denver metro area, ranging from The Wildlife Experience in Parker to Mile Hi Church in Lakewood; from History Colorado to the famed Boettcher Concert Hall, where children get the rare opportunity to sit surrounded by the live professional orchestra on the Boettcher stage. (Find a complete list of performances below and at www.insidetheorchestra.org). Museum admissions included in the ticket at History Colorado and The Wildlife Experience.

Tickets for the show are a suggested $9.95/person, but no one is turned away – discounted and complimentary admissions for individuals and schools in need are offered.  Go to www.insidetheorchestra.org/tiny-tots-events/ for more information and to register and purchase tickets.

A 45-minute program, Tiny Tots Inside the Orchestra engages, entertains and educates children six and under and their families (all ages are welcome). Audiences experience what it is like to be truly inside the orchestra as they are seated on the floor and surrounded by a 30+ piece professional orchestra. The conductor faces the audience and teaches about the music while it is being performed. Kids, parents, grandparents, caregivers, and school groups are given the opportunity to dance, explore the instruments, and see world class performances designed for the age and stage of the kids in the audience. For 15-minutes after each concert, children are given the opportunity to meet the musicians, take a closer look at the instruments, and ask questions. This immersive and interactive experience is one of a kind. In this winter series, Inside the Orchestra will feature a concert grand harp for the first time in a Tiny Tots concert.

Inside the Orchestra

Inside the Orchestra is a local nonprofit organization that brings orchestra music to young children in the greater Denver metropolitan community, cultivating music appreciation and enhancing their education through engaging first-hand experiences. Each year, Inside the Orchestra brings orchestra music to over 20,000 children and caregivers throughout Colorado through different programs – Inside the Orchestra for Schools, Inside the Orchestra for Families, and Tiny Tots. The Inside the Orchestra for Schools program is an interactive 50-minute program geared toward students in K-8th grade, wherein a 14-15 piece orchestra performs in-school assemblies. Students sit surrounded by the professional orchestra, as the conductor faces the audience and engages them throughout the performance, asking questions and teaching them about the music as it is playing around them. The audience is treated to up-close-and-personal demos by the strings, woodwinds, horns and percussion. Scripting is designed to not only introduce music concepts, but to tie to curriculum that children are studying in other subjects. In-classroom follow-up by the conductor and supplementary lesson plans are provided as well.
